Irresistible Isle of Man
The Isle of Man is a hidden treasure in the Irish Sea that’s ideal to explore. Discover the islands countryside, coastlines, resorts, nostalgic railways and trams, and a host of heritage sites.
Travel to Heysham for the afternoon ferry to Douglas and then onto the Chesterhouse Hotel situated on Douglas Promenade for a 4 night stay.
Follow some of the Isle of Man’s famous TT course, we take a morning break at Royal Ramsey before travelling across the island to Peel. Sitting grandly at the mouth of the harbour Peel is an attractive resort home to a castle, a cathedral, a flat sandy beach, the house of Manannan, the Manx Transport Heritage Museum, a harbour and a smoked kipper factory – spoilt for choice what to do this day!
After a lovely breakfast we will set off and head through the Manx countryside in the south of the island to the popular resort of Port Erin. There will be an optional trip to Cregneash Folk Village and/or Sound Café and Visitor Centre – there are wonderful views here of the Calf of Man. On the return to Douglas we visit Castletown.
Enjoy a free half day to Douglas, home to the award-winning Manx Museum. Plenty of time then to enjoy a trip to the Laxey Wheel (Lady Isabella), the worlds largest working waterwheel and the islands most famous icon.
Time to head for home on the morning ferry from Douglas to Heysham.
